Storm at Mumbles Lighthouse
Carmarthenshire
A historic structure that sits on the outer of two islands off Mumbles Head and has been a landmark since it was built back in the 1700s. The Mumbles Lighthouse is visible from any point along Swansea’s western coastline – prominent and a significant feature in the area.
This painting captures the dramatic scene of a strong gale with crashing waves driven against the rocks and one can sense the sound of the ferocious sea and the intermittent movement of the stone pebbles. I thoroughly enjoyed painting this location as the mood of the dark sky contrasted well with the remorseless sea.
