This large format painting of Rhossili Bay, located on the stunning Gower Peninsula, was a private commission created to mark a special occasion – the golden celebration of the client’s wife’s 50th birthday. The work was intended not only as a visual celebration of this milestone but also as a deeply personal tribute to a place cherished by the family.

At the heart of the composition is the majestic sweep of Rhossili’s wide sandy beach, framed by rugged cliffs and the unmistakable silhouette of Worm’s Head island stretching out into the sea. To bring a sense of life and personal connection to the scene, I included figures representing the family themselves – enjoying the expansive shoreline, the rolling surf, and the natural beauty that makes this location so memorable. The result is a painting that blends personal memory with the timeless drama of the Welsh coast.
